What is Gamification?

Gamification has been a popular topic in education for a few years now. Many people think of games as a way to make learning more fun, but there are other benefits as well. Games can improve engagement, motivation, and even learning outcomes. If you’re interested in gamifying your courses, there are a few things to keep in mind. Gone are the days when games are only used for teambuilding activities or as icebreakers.

Integrating Gamification in Training

Training courses can be gamified in a number of ways to improve learner engagement and motivation. Gamification can involve adding elements of game design to non-game contexts, such as adding points, leaderboards, and badges to a training course. Gamifying courses can also involve making the training course itself more like a game, such as by adding elements of story and choice. There are a number of benefits of gamification for learners, including increased engagement, motivation, and knowledge retention.

Two Tips in Gamifying Courses

Tip Number 1: Give learners points, badges, and leaderboards.

These can be based on anything from quiz scores to participation in discussion forums.

Tip Number 2: Use game elements such as levels, quests, and achievements.

You can also make the learning process more interactive by adding choice and competition.
