Google Sites: Free Website For All
Whether you’re a student or a freelancer looking for a creative and cost-effective way to submit your portfolio or a small business owner looking to increase your visibility and reach, Google Sites might be the best app for you.
Sites is a web-based, free webpage creation and management platform that can be used for a variety of purposes. Unlike other website creation tools available these days, users without coding experience can easily set up a website through Sites’ templates, user-friendly interface, and integration with other Workspace tools.
Signing in to Google Sites
Website: www.sites.google.com
To access Google Sites, sign in to your Gmail account and simply go to www.sites.google.com. Alternatively, you can also type new.sites.google.com into your browser’s address bar. You may opt to use the templates available or create your website from scratch.
Once you have chosen the right template for you, you can now customize it using the built-in tools within the app. Make your website engaging by including images, links to your social media pages, buttons, image carousels, and more. Apart from these, you can also include Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Charts on their website. All these are made possible through the seamless integration of tools within Google Workspace. Additionally, you can also add more pages and subpages with just a few clicks or even change the theme.
Publishing your Website
Before publishing your site, make sure to check how it looks on different devices by clicking the preview button. This will show you how the website looks like when accessed through a tablet, mobile phone, and large screens such as laptop and desktop computers.
When publishing your website, the first step is to choose the web address. This is going to be the address that will be used to access your website. Next, manage who can access your sites by choosing between restricted or public access. This option applies to both the draft version and the published one. The app also gives you the option to not show your website in public search engines. Once you click publish, your site will be accessible to your chosen audience. You can easily update it at any time and unpublish it as well.
Who Can Use Sites?
The short answer to this is everyone who has a Google account. This is also a great alternative for small businesses and professionals who wish to showcase their products and services before deciding on purchasing their domain and website. Educators can also use this as a resource page for their classes too. After all, why not make the most of the free apps Google Workspace has to offer to its users, right?
